Many would say that BMW’s M division has lost its soul and purpose when the legendary tuning division introduced the X5M and X6M. Not anymore. Well to do, M-ophiles will have something to look forward to in the form of a M3 GT4.
Raced at the 24-hours of Nurburgring this past May, the GT4 is fitted with all the race-ready kit you’d expect in something developed to race at the famed ‘Ring. The kit includes an Ohlins suspension setup, aerodynamics enhancements, a full roll cage, an airjack system, race buckets, and a modified engine and transmission. Its a trackday toy or a competition-only machine, so don’t expect to see it on the road.
It has yet to be confirmed for production but Dr. Kay Segler, BMW’s M Division head said its being actively considered. Expect it to be available to gentleman racers sometime in 2010.
