A well known British car maker, Noble has never put rubber to road in Malaysia but every once in a while, it comes up with some pretty interesting models that it makes me wish we got it here, not that I can afford one. Anyway, this is their latest offering - the new M600 and it’s as fast as it looks and I’ll soon explain why I want one but first the price.
£200,000 - don’t even bother doing the math because it will easily be deep seven figure Ringgits. That’s more than twice the asking price of previous models, but the M600 brings a lot to the table. The car is constructed from a stainless steel tub, tube skeleton and chassis, and carbon fiber body panels that together combine to a very respectful 1,274kg curb weight.
The 4.4-liter V8 (a first for Noble) has been fitted with twin Garrett turbochargers and, this is the best part, the driver can change between three power output settings - 450, 550, or 650 horsepower - with a max torque output of 618 lb-ft. Performance will undoubtedly be up to supercar settings; 100km/h is seen off in just 3-seconds flat, 160km/h in 6.5-seconds and onto a top speed of - brace yourself - 362km/h !!
Past Noble models have always aspired to be purist drivers car and the M600 is no different, and that’s why I want one so bad. The traction control system can be completely deactivated, and there is no ESP system or anti-lock brakes. Shifting will be done via an old school 6-speed manual gearbox - no paddle shifters will be offered, not even as options. How cool is that? It’s a total blast to the past with more power and more fun than the current Playstation generation would know how to handle. The M600 will make its public debut at the Goodwood Revival on September 19-21 but in the meantime check out the gallery below. Modern technology junkies and GTR freaks, don’t bother.
