Mercedes SLS AMG supercar will come with 526bhp battery power as well as a V8

Mercedes SLS AMG
The new Mercedes SLS AMG supercar gets its big unveil at the Frankfurt motor show in September, and it’s set to be quite the technology fest.

As well as a 564bhp 6.2-litre V8 version there’ll be an all-electric SLS. It’s a bold move for Mercedes and AMG, but it doesn’t mean they’re belying their performance focus – power comes courtesy of four electric motors, with 526bhp and 649lb ft on tap. Those figures aren’t far short of the petrol SLS, and with thrust likely to arrive from zero revs, it’ll probably feel more powerful. The 0-62mph dash arrives in the same circa 4sec as the V8.

Those motors are cleverly applied, too. There’s one positioned beside each wheel (rather than in the hubs), reducing unsprung masses. It also means the car’s effectively all-wheel drive, with a transmission at each axle and torque vectoring sending power to the wheels that will use it best. It’ll means the electric SLS could have quite a different character to previous AMGs that send copious amounts of power to the rear wheels.

The 400-volt lithium ion battery is recharged by way of energy recuperation during braking. In its current early stages it’s not known what range will be like, but it’s likely that plugging your SLS into the mains will be another source of recharging.

Dynamics should be pretty sharp, too, with a low centre of gravity achieved by placing the battery and motors very low down in the car. Weight distribution should be fairly close to neutral, too. Impressively, no changes have had to be made to the gullwing car’s aluminium spaceframe chassis to accommodate the new setup.

While the petrol SLS is due next year, expect another few years to pass before the electric version comes to fruition. It could signal a stable future for high power AMGs, though. Volker Mornhinweg, CEO of AMG, said – ‘With the SLS AMG with electric drive, we wanted to redefine the super sports car. For us, it is not just about responsibility. We attach just as much importance to excitement and classic AMG performance.’

The Mercedes Benz Cyborg Sensation Vehicle, or C.S.V., is a concept car imagined by Chinese designer Derek Chik Kin Ng. The C.S.V. is an off-road capable, two-seater supercar, Inspired by the Mercedes F400 concept, designed back in 2001, is targeted to young adventurous professionals in 2040.

Its pretty obvious, (thanks Captain Oblivious) what the core concept of this vehicle is just by name. Technology and organics are bound to merge sooner or later. Imagine driving just by thinking. When you sit in the drivers seat, your though patterns are sent to the vehicle, thus becoming an extension of your body. Theres no need for analog controls.
Mercedes Supercar C.S.V Concept
Mercedes F400 concept has served as the inspiration when creating this concept car of the future. It foreshadows a fully integrated driver interface, providing “driving…by thinking”.
Mercedes Supercar C.S.V Concept
The interesting part about this Mercedes Benz concept is that it has no steering wheel, no pedals, but this vehicle can be controlled with the power of mind instead. It uses a system named Brain Computer Interface (BCI), which creates a connection between the car and its driver, through a specially-designed helmet.

This way, the driver’s brain impulses are gathered by the helmet and transferred to the car, which responds appropriately. Although this principle may sound plausible in the future, its implementation on cars, could prove to be quite a difficult task.

The implications for such technologies means someday well know how to interpret, map out, and respond to human neural patterns. If you can put that thought aside for a second, lets focus on the design.

Theres a lot of F400 in there but the designer wanted to give the vehicle an organic flavor, hence the muscle fibers flanking each side, neatly tucking into a hidden skeletal system. The result is a design that takes Mercedes Benz DNA and evolves it into an organic object mimicking its pilot.

Diodes in the front (yes even in the form of horseshoes), and rear, front bumper with huge air intakes, slits in the faceted hood, four kruglyasha head optics, fog lamps, six, and just enough outlet - Mercedes G with such a dodger is the best meets the needs of the target audience. Beautiful or ugly? Main - noticeably.

And very quickly. SUV A.R.T. G Streetline manages to dial 260 km / h, whereas the G 55 AMG - only 210. The secret to optimize the "compressor" engine V8 5.4 (507 hp, 700 N • m). New soft, improved exhaust manifolds and cooling system helped to bring benefits to 601 "horses" and 800 newton-meters. At the very time for loosening the sand: its in the Arabian Peninsula in abundance.

But Salon is uniquely good. Four fully electrified separate seats with heating and ventilation are covered in red leather, as well as door panels from a central console. Mini-bar in the kit.

Mercedes SL-600 adorned with 300 thousands Swarovski

At the Tokyo Motor Show, which opened in Japan on January 15, was presented to Mercedes-Benz SL-600, decorated with 300 thousand crystals Swarovski.

Decoration of the Mercedes has developed a Japanese company DAD, dedicated to tuning. At the Tokyo Motor Show are mainly represented by local car manufacturers. Thus, special attention was riveted to the visitors of the novelties of Toyota and Honda.

Honda Prius

First introduced its new hybrid Prius. Honda also showed the "green" concept car Insight.

Honda Insight

As reported, on January 11 in Detroit opened the largest U.S. auto show. On January 24 it will be possible to see more than 700 models of the leaders of the world automobile industry, 50 of which will be presented for the first time.

Mercedes-Benz BlitzenBenz concept car

Mercedes-Benz BlitzenBenz concept car Production year theoretical 2025. Brilliant and outstanding is what every car lover will exclaim when will see this BlitzenBenz concept car. The Mercedes-Benz BlitzenBenz concept was created by George Yoo, a designer at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development in Carlsbad, California. The BlitzenBenz was developed during his final year at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Created by George Yoo as a futuristic racing vehicle, BlitzenBenz concept is derived from two different sources. And let me tell you the roots of its design are in the past. The main inspiration behind the idea is from original Blitzen-Benz from 1909 that had a long tubular shape and rear cab positioning. On the other, Alex Erlandson work of creating sculptures from trees that were grown into certain shapes/patterns influenced Yoo considerably to contemplate what if automotive parts were to be grown and tamed to hold certain shapes.

Obviously the technology is not quite there yet to create such a vehicle, but the current research into nanotechnology is paving the way for intelligent and adaptable components which can be grown instead of manufactured. It's an incredibly interesting prospect which would completely alter the way cars are built, maintained, upgraded and recycled.

The exterior design is a base for the organic structure and the individual wheel pods are there to sense as to when the inside electric motors need to be cooled down. When the cooling will be required, these structures will open up in the same way as the plants do to receive the vital sunlight.
Mercedes-Benz BlitzenBenz concept car

To run this Mercedes-Benz BlitzenBenz, there is an advanced next-generation Hygenius hybrid hydrogen engine and four in-wheel electric motors. The inspiration for the blue lightening system came from bioluminescent capabilities of deep sea creatures. Also, a hydrogen storage tank is just below the cockpit and the fuel level is shown in a small window.
Mercedes-Benz BlitzenBenz concept car

Though, woefully, there is no technology to make this vehicle as such, but the progressing research into nanotechnology will surely open the way for components that can be grown than manufactured, changing the way cars will be built or maintained in future.
