The record for the fastest road-legal diesel car was broken by the AC Schnitzer ACS3 3.5d Coupe with a speed of more than 8.7 km/h.288.7 km/h.

The record that was broken had been that of 2006 with the TENSION as the fastest road-legal BMW. The record had held in 2007 when the GP3.10 GAS POWERED entered to represent gas-powered vehicles. AC Schnitzer cited its power upgrade as the reason for its success.

At 303.1 km/h, this was not a new world, but such a high speed is almost unheard of for a Roadster. The Z4 was also running with the commercial version of the AC Schnitzer performance upgrade for 3.5i engines.

AC Schitnitzer – responsible for some of the most radical BMW’s to grace the roads – has done it again with it’s latest creation, the fastest road-legal diesel production car.
The Schnitzer ACS 3.5d coupe makes 306bhp against the 282hp of the 335d on which it’s based. The car captured the world record when it posted a top speed of 288.7 kph at the 13km Nardo test track in southern Italy.
AC Schnitzer has released a video to prove its run and in case you wondering, the Z4 running with the 3.5d in the video actually is the 355bhp Schnitzer ACS4 3.5 Turbo, which is based on the Z4 sDrive35i. The Z didn’t break any records but it managed an impressive 302km/h.

For the performance, AC Schnitzer has provided some performance for the 3.0d six banger which able to boost the power from 245 hp and 520 Nm to 284 horsepower and 570 Nm of twisting strength. Rear L-shaped LED lights and the Schnitzer Twin Sports Rear Silencer for an enhanced Beamer sound round out the goodies here.

A sport suspension kit is included in this AC Schnizter package. Besides that, it also provide power upgrades for the X5 30d and 35d. By tuning the ECU the German firm has managed to boost performance on both six-cylinder diesel models, with the 30d developing an additional 35HP for a total of 272HP and the 35d 310HP instead of 286HP.
