Rumour around the net’s are abound that the Spyder will feature a retractable hard top rather than the lighter, more appropriate, convertible fabric. The hard top will add some 70kg to the lightweight Scuderia which is a lot for a high performance car. Ferrari, recognising this, will counter the performance sucking weight problem by incorporating its brand new 7-speed dual clutch transmission system which will debut in the brand new Ferrari California. Seven gear ratio’s with double clutch provide for faster, smoother shifts and allows the Scuderia’s 500hp to be stretched through more gears meaning the performance drop due to the extra weight won’t be felt.
If the Scuderia Spyder does make it to production, only 300 of the hardcore Spyder will see the light of day. There is also no news whether Ferrari will build right hand drive versions of it either.
