Recently, Toyota had unveiled the Aygo Crazy Concept, the model is based on the Aygo hatch. The concept is a car that is all about the joy of driving, with no electronic handling aids, no power steering and no ABS.
A 1.8 VVTi engine that powered the final generation of Celica and MRS is powered this Aygo Crazy. However the engine is mounted at the rear and driving the rear wheels through the 5-speed manual gearbox.
Power is increased with the addition of a Toyota Motorsport turbo conversion kit producing 200 hp and maximum torque of 240 Nm compared to the stock Aygo’s 68 hp and 93 Nm. At 1,050 kg, the Aygo Crazy capable to achieve the top speed of 127 mph.
The concept features custom-made body, 17-inch alloys wrapped in Goodyear 225/45 tires and carbon fiber rear wing taken directly from the 200mph race cars in the American Champ Car series.
A bespoke cooling system has been designed, with a huge, front-mounted aluminium radiator to cope with the greater engine performance. The suspension system meanwhile is from the MR2 Roadster, with MacPherson struts front and rear while the Tein dampers improve the performance. For the interior, the Aygo Crazy features purpose-built sports seats with four-point safety harnesses and a full roll cage.
